Boat tours around Portofino
A boat tour from Portofino usually means one of three things: a scheduled ferry between the small harbours, a day excursion from Genoa, or a private boat for a group. The scheduled boats link Camogli, Punta Chiappa, Portofino, Santa Margherita Ligure and San Fruttuoso, and they follow a seasonal timetable.
The coast is inside a marine protected area. That decides where a boat may anchor, where you may swim and where you may dive. The rules are below, with the fares.

The 90-minute ride is the short option, the small-group tour with snacks suits a relaxed afternoon, and the four-hour trip from Rapallo adds more time on the water. Ask before booking whether the boat reaches San Fruttuoso on your day.

Ferries from Camogli: fares in 2026
Adult and child fares in euros, one way and return.
| Route | Adult one way | Adult return | Child one way | Child return |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Camogli to San Fruttuoso | €11 | €17 | €7 | €11 |
| Camogli to Punta Chiappa | €7 | €12 | €4 | €7 |
| Punta Chiappa to San Fruttuoso | €7 | €12 | €4 | €7 |
Children up to 3 years travel free with a parent, and children from 4 to 12 pay the reduced fare. On some other excursion routes the reduction applies to the return ticket only. The ride to Punta Chiappa takes about 15 minutes and to San Fruttuoso about 30 minutes. The line runs all year, but Recco is served only from April to September.
For most visitors, the Camogli boat is the simplest way to reach San Fruttuoso. From Portofino and Santa Margherita, boats serve the same bay on a separate tariff.
Ferries from Santa Margherita, Portofino and Rapallo
Return fares for 2026.
| Route | Adult return |

These are 2026 fares, not a guaranteed price on the day. Check the timetable, because the season and the sea decide which sailings run. The boat to the Cinque Terre starts in Santa Margherita or Rapallo, and you should not count on a daily service.
The Genoa excursion
One boat, set days.
A 2026 excursion leaves Genoa at 10:45 from the aquarium pier and reaches Portofino at about 12:15. The boat leaves Portofino at 14:15 and is back in Genoa at 15:45. Adults pay €29, children aged 5 to 14 pay €18, and children up to 4 pay €1. A reservation is required, and you arrive 30 minutes before departure. It runs on set dates only, and it does not stop at San Fruttuoso.
Portofino private boat tours
What to know before you hire a boat.
A private boat gives you your own timing, but the marine reserve rules apply to every boat. Prices depend on the boat, the length and the group, and a group price is not a price per person. Ask what is included before you book.
Speed and moorings
Motor boats keep to 5 knots inside the reserve. At the mooring fields, boats tie up with permission, and free anchoring and underwater activity are not allowed there. The mooring fields at Punta Chiappa and San Fruttuoso are closed for the season in 2026.
Anchoring
Anchoring is forbidden in zones A and B. In zone C it is allowed only outside the excluded areas, which include Paraggi, marked bathing zones and the areas near mooring fields.
Swimming and the animals
Swimming is forbidden in zone A. In zones B and C it follows local orders and stays out of the marked areas. Do not take or disturb sea life. Spearfishing is forbidden in the whole reserve, and no sighting of dolphins or fish is promised.
